Roadtrip with the Motorola Xyboard and Verizon’s 4G LTE! #VZWSS

Yesterday, we left the big ol’ city of Green Bay, WI to travel down to the even bigger city of Oconomowoc, WI to visit my sister and her family.
(yea, I was being super sarcastic in the “big city” talk…)

My son, Jackson, if you didn’t know, is a Minecraft addict. To play the “server” or whatever it is, you need to be connected to the internet. I really don’t know all of the particulars of that game…just that if he wanted to play with friends or multi-player as he calls it, you just need to be online.
With the Motorola Xyboard in hand, running on Verizon’s 4G LTE service, this was NOT a problem.
Then, my oldest daughter, Haley, was with us and of course she needed something to occupy her.
My youngest daughter, Jenna, was on a trip to Six Flags Great America with our church youth group and will be joining us tonight, on our visit, when my mom brings her…

But, I digress…
So, here is what we did.
We took our fully charged Motorola Xyboard and activated the personal hotspot so that our iPad would also be able to be online.

Our iPad is NOT a 3G/4G iPad, so it needs to have wi-fi when connecting to the internet.
Now, BOTH devices were hot and active on Verizon’s 4G LTE network for the ENTIRE 2 hour drive. Not ONE TIME did that amazing service let us down!

They played Minecraft, watched Netflix, surfed around YouTube… Yes. They really gave that Verizon 4G LTE Hotspot a workout!

When we got to my sister’s and got settled, I checked on the battery level of the Xyboard. I totally expected it to be pretty much drained. I mean, it was running it’s own 4G service AND the iPad’s 3G service, so yes… I was expecting it to be 10% or even lower.

Nope! It only sucked up 40% of the battery! yes, that may seem like a lot, but you have to think about it. The 4G service was powering 2 devices for 2 hours STRAIGHT!
The Verizon 4G LTE service inside my sister’s home isn’t the greatest, as you can tell on the pic… but my AT&T 3G service is non-existent in the house. The Verizon 4G is a better service to be having at my sister’s!

But…do you want to know the BEST part of that 2-hour drive? No peeps. No fighting. No nit-picking. AND… NO… “ARE WE THERE YET???”

:)
Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Midwest Savvy Savers program and have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.
